We’re pleased to share an important update to the Ember Connect Board.
After three years of service, Dr Michelle Ellis, a proud Koorie woman from Wiradjuri Country, is retiring from our Board. We thank Michelle for her three years’ of service during a critical time in the charity’s development and wish her all the best in the next chapter of her journey.
Effective 11 June 2025, we’re delighted to welcome Ann-Maree Long, pictured left, to the Ember Connect Board. A proud Badjala, Woppaburra and Torres Strait Islander woman living and working in MaganDjin, on Yuggera and Turrbal Country, Ann-Maree brings almost a decade of experience leading national programs that champion students and promote healing through storytelling, creativity and collaboration. She has designed and delivered training for young people, mentored emerging leaders and driven community-informed strategies for sustainable change.
Ann-Maree is Co-Founder of Sandpoppy Weaving, a small business focused on craft and creation for healing alongside her mum, Aunty Barb. Her commitment extends through board roles and advisory groups in climate justice, health equity and youth empowerment. Grounded in gratitude, truth-telling and a vision for strong, happy, connected communities, and as a self-proclaimed “neuro-sparkly career cupid”, she’s excited to connect community members with opportunities to grow, learn, share and thrive.
