Advocacy

At Ember Connect, we hold a deep commitment to amplifying the voices of First Nations women. We believe in creating meaningful opportunities for women to engage in causes and conversations that matter to them. Our mission is to ensure that these voices are not only heard but also valued and impactful.

Ember Connect has provided feedback, advice and information, taken part in forums, workshops and roundtables, or made submissions, to many organisations and government bodies, including:

  • Department for Employment and Workforce Relation: Strategic Review of the Australian Apprenticeship Incentive System
  • WA Department of Communities: Stronger Together Implementation Group
  • First Nations Digital Inclusion Advisory Group
  • Wiyi Yani U Thangani Action Framework
  • First Nations Gender Justice Institute

Inspired by Wiyi Yani U Thangani and the remarkable women who have dedicated their lives to this cause, we recognize that our strength lies not in individual efforts but in the collective knowledge and contributions of our community. It is the wisdom of our elders and the leadership of our matriarchs that guide us in this important work.

As the demand for our services grows, we are dedicated to connecting our members and allies with a diverse range of discussions. From gender equity and strategic reviews to employment and education, we are expanding our capacity to provide the necessary time and space for these important conversations.

Over the past 18 months, Ember Connect has proudly delivered feedback from our community. We strive to make it easier for women to contribute without the barriers of overthinking or time constraints. Our efforts are focused on fostering an inclusive environment where women’s voices can thrive and influence across industries and government sectors.

Join us at Ember Connect, where every voice matters and every contribution makes a difference.

Ember Connect wishes to acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and we honour their deep continuing connection to land, sky, waterways and community.

We pay our respects to our Elders past, present and emerging who illuminate our journey to truth-telling, culture and conservation, which remains stronger than ever.
