We are excited to share the recipients of our latest $5,000 Game Changer Grants, designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to start or grow small businesses with strong community impact.
This round saw strong interest from First Nations women across Australia. All applications were deidentified and assessed before being shortlisted and reviewed by a sub-committee of the Ember Connect Board.
Belinda Cashman – Giilang Yindyamarra – Respectful Stories (proposed name)
A culturally authentic games initiative celebrating Aboriginal identity. The flagship product is an Aboriginal themed “Guess Who?” style game featuring living Aboriginal characters and integrating language, storytelling and health education. Funding will support prototype development and launch.
Masepa Manai – MANAI Wellness & Nutrition Inc
A First Nations women led social enterprise delivering mobile training, post-natal programs and women only community workouts. The business is launching Tjanabi, a native wattle seed energy drink designed to provide calm, sustained energy. The grant will support pilot production, equipment and compliance.
Sharon Leisk – Jindaya
Jindaya is a community led digital skills initiative supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women into practical technology pathways that do not require a university degree. It delivers culturally safe, flexible training in foundational digital literacy and low code platforms, with wrap around support and community co design. The pilot program aims to build confidence, job ready skills and clear pathways into further training, employment or small business opportunities.
