Regional Aboriginal Leadership Development Scholarships

Our friends at Leadership WA have opened applications for their Regional Aboriginal Leadership Development Scholarships.

These scholarships are aimed at creating positive outcomes for regional Aboriginal communities by supporting participants onto Leadership WA Programs and Courses. Lotterywest is a major supporter of these scholarships.

Who is eligible?

These scholarships are open to individuals who identify as Aboriginal, are based in regional WA, and work at a not-for-profit organisation. Leadership WA may also consider Aboriginal applicants working in Perth not-for-profit organisations whose work directly impacts regional Aboriginal communities; or non-Aboriginal applicants working at not-for-profit organisations that support the advancement of regional Aboriginal communities.

Applicants need to complete the normal application process for a Leadership WA Program, and be offered a place.Acceptance onto our Programs is a competitive process so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

  1. They live or work in a rural/regional area, or work for an organisation that supports Aboriginal people in the regions;
  2. How they intend to practically apply learnings from the Program to benefit their organisation and surrounding regional community;
  3. Their commitment to how they will share their learnings with their organisation and their regional community, as well as a commitment to a minimum of 3 activities within the 12 months of completion of the Program. This may include a brief report to the CEOs and Boards of Leadership WA and Lotterywest; a presentation to local leaders in the applicant’s region; volunteering as a mentor or providing guidance to other regional participants; or other opportunities for shared learnings.

What does the scholarship cover?

The Leadership WA Foundation scholarship covers the organisational Program fee, as well as related travel and accommodation costs for participants to travel to Perth to participate in the Program. The scholarship does not cover the Program’s personal fee, as this represents the applicant’s self-investment. This fee can be covered with a payment plan if required.
