At Ember Connect, we’ve always believed that the right support, at the right time, can change everything.
Our Game Changer Grants program was designed with that in mind. To provide practical financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women so they can take the next step in their personal, professional or cultural journey.
Following the expansion of the program through our partnership with BHP, we’ve now delivered five grant rounds and distributed more than $50,000 to 15 women across the country.
What we’re seeing
We recently asked our grant recipients to reflect on the impact of the program and the results speak for themselves.
Every respondent told us that the grant had a meaningful impact on their progress, with 100% saying it helped “a lot” or was “transformational”.
But beyond the numbers, it’s the stories that matter.
Women are:
- completing university degrees
- stepping into leadership roles
- building and expanding businesses
- presenting their work on international platforms
- creating initiatives that benefit their communities
One of the strongest themes to emerge was confidence.
Not just the ability to do something, but the belief that they belong in those spaces. That they can show up, speak up and take the next step.
More than funding
The grants are doing more than providing financial support.
They are helping women:
- build skills and capability
- expand networks and connections
- strengthen independence and leadership
- unlock opportunities that may not otherwise be accessible
Importantly, we’re also seeing strong progress toward goals, with the majority of recipients either achieving what they set out to do or making significant progress along the way.
